OK, I lied. This is not necessarily a post about why I’m going to eat local organic (loganic) meats. That will come later.
I have however been toying around with the idea of lowering my intake of meat if not completely eliminating it from my diet. Not only that, but animal byproducts as well such as my beloved milk :/ But that’s a story for my next post because there’s a lot I want to write about that.
In the meantime, here are some pictures of DC VegFest 2011. It was my first time and I totally loved it.
It was jam packed. I definitely was not expecting that many people.
I tried my first sample of Tempeh. I can’t say that I am a fan, but I am definitely willing to give it a try when I can season it the way I want.
There were some amazing looking pastries and desserts. The line was super long the whole time and I’m just too impatient for that… even if it does include sugar.
This little piggy kept asking me not to eat baby back ribs. Honestly, she was a little creepy.
There was also this odd carrot guy…
And, a cupcake eating competition! I really wanted to participate, but I didn’t get chosen
Notice the girl in the bottom left hand corner? She looks miserable!
And the winner is…. the guy with the cupcake all over his face!
There were also a lot of awesome food vendors. These guys were pretty funny to watch coming down the street.
On our way back to the metro, I wanted to stop into Whole Foods to see if I could find the Field Roast links that I sampled at the festival. They were honestly so freaking tasty, I can’t wait to buy them!
Look at those nutrition facts! You can’t beat that when it comes to a vegan “hot dog”
I have a lot of reading to do now! I’ll give you guys some tidbits that I find interesting. A lot of them are reasons why I want to stop eating meat or at least eat less and eat loganic when I do.
And, of course, all the samples! Look at that big bag of flax seed meal!!
How was your weekend? What’d you do?
